What is Sound Therapy and Sound Arts Therapy?
Feel BOUNDLESS and GROUNDED through the magic of sound.
So, you’re intrigued by sound therapy but not totally sure what it entails? Here’s a snapshot. I hope it helps.
Sound Therapy
Sound therapy is the use of (you guessed it!) sound, music and instruments to help you understand and explore your emotional and physical wellbeing.
Using the 7Rs experiential processing method, sound therapy gives people the tools to lean into their feelings, release emotional blocks, make sense of situations and work through the *things* that the body and mind try to hold onto.
My sessions are split into ‘reflective’ and ‘relaxation’ practices (scroll down to learn more about the differences in my FAQs). Whether you come along to one session or a six-week course, sound therapy can give you a safe space to let go, be in the moment and drop into a different sense of space.
Things you can expect to hear…
Himalayan Singing Bowls
Crystal Bowls
Drums
Therapeutic Percussion
And SO much more…
(But I don’t want to give it all away!)
Sound Arts Therapy
Sound arts therapy, on the other hand, is a participatory practice - you lead and I facilitate.
It’s about creating your own soundscapes, guided from the word ‘go’ by those 7Rs of experiential processing. Every session is underpinned by a core purpose, and often inspired by either art itself or nature. Sound art therapy could delve into anything from anxiety to isolation, being heard to breaking away from the stories we tell ourselves.
You do NOT have to be a musician or have ever even picked up an instrument in your entire life. It isn’t about that; it’s about the process and what can rise from the depths when we give ourselves the permission to play.
“A wonderful immersive experience that helps you relax and lose sense of time.”
