Be soft, Be strong

Be soft, be strong.

I read this in an article the other day and it resonated with me. The idea of being soft, and strong. The article was talking about real strength being the ability to be able to yield when necessary, while understanding and staying true to your own core values. Something which I feel is hitting home more than ever at the moment with all the talk around rest being needed. Yielding to what we need to rest, to stop. Whilst staying true to who we are in the process - leaning in to what we need and who we are.

This got me thinking about what our core values are, and how we can ensure that we always return to them, even in the times of rest and pause. How we hold ourselves accountable and the mirrors we hold up to ourselves when necessary.

Our values at Roots in Routes are simple.

  • Kindness showing support, compassion and understanding for everyone and everything we come into contact with.

  • Adventure in your own way at your own pace, supporting and empowering you to have adventure everyday - your way.

  • Honesty and Trust, in the work we do, how we do it and why we do it.

  • Creativity, in how we deliver, what we offer and how we live.

What are your core values? What do you always come back to?

To me being soft and strong is physical, mental and spiritual. We can approach all aspects of life with kindness, compassion and understanding. It is a great power to be able to wield kindness, to ourselves and to others.
Adventure can happen from your doorstep, up a mountain, on a lake or even in the mundane moments of everyday life. You can build it into your daily practise, adapt and build upon your own sense of what adventure means to you. Adventure is a mindset as much as it is an action in my opinion, it will bring out the soft and the strong in all of us by helping us build our resilience.
Honesty and trust are two of the things we hold most dear, they are the foundations of who we are as people, as a couple, and as Roots in Routes. If we are honest and can trust then we have the world at our feet.
Creativity it the thread that weaves within all of our work, we like problem solving, thinking outside the box and creatively putting together different ways of engaging, interacting and sharing with others.

It is these four core values which we keep ourselves accountable to. Which we return to. It is these four values which we reflect on when making choices and decisions. It is also these values which we listen to when we know that we need to move our bodies, need to explore, need to rest, need to stop. We are honest with ourselves, kind to ourselves, challenge ourselves to think creatively and live adventurously. We are soft and strong.

So what are your core values? How do they help shape and guide you?

love,
